Natural
In 1989, Susie Hewson developed the Natracare
All-Cotton Tampon in Britain, as the first rayon-free, 100% pure cotton
tampon since the 1930's. Hewson's idea was to address the problem of
dioxin and rayon used in tampons as they appeared to adversely affect
women's health issues and the environment. Natracare tampons are
composed of first quality, long fiber cotton which helps reduce fiber loss/shedding.
They are bleached using a safe, dioxin-free, hydrogen
peroxide process. Natracare does not use chlorine or
chlorine-containing compounds, such as chlorine dioxide or
elemental chlorine which do produce dioxins. Natracare's
tampon products contain no rayon synthetics, no binders, and no
additives such as surfactants, resins or fragrances. Just PURE
cotton!
ORGANIC
In 1998, Natracare developed the first CERTIFIED
ORGANIC Applicator tampon and in 1999, the first Non-Applicator
CERTIFIED ORGANIC tampons. They are certified by the
Soil Association (Europe) which assures that Natracare tampons
are certified from the growing of the cotton, through the
processing and manufacturing of the tampons. Also, they are
organically grown and processed in accordance with the California
Organic Food Act of 1990. This cotton is GMO-free which means that it is not genetically
engineered.
