Kyrie Irving Religion and Ethnicity – Is Kyrie Muslim?

Kyrie Irving was a player who always found himself in the middle of controversy. A huge example of this would be when he refused to get vaccinated, despite the harsh criticism he received from everyone in the NBA. Likewise, he did it again. Recently, the Brooklyn Nets star promoted a film with anti-Semitic views on Twitter. Ever since, the whole eye is watching Kyrie.
After the NBA warned him and the Nets board decided to suspend him, Irving issued an apology. He mentioned that his only intention was to support his legacy and not hurt religious beliefs. This brings us to a question; what religion does Kyrie follow?
When did Kyrie Irving convert to Islam?
In 2021, many speculated that the Nets star became a Muslim after taking a knee before a game. The main reason for the rumors was the fact that Muslims practice this mainly as part of their prayers. Additionally, Kyrie later revealed to the world during a press conference that he had converted to Islam.
Kyrie spoke about fasting Ramadan after the Nets win over the Celtics.

“All praise is due to God, Allah, for that…For me, in terms of my faith and what I believe in, being part of the Muslim community, being committed to Islam, and also just being committed to all races and cultures, religions, just having an understanding and respect. I just want to put that as a base,” said Irving.
Kyrie revealed at the time that he was participating in the fast. The Nets guard said, “I participate in Ramadan with many of my Muslim brothers and sisters. And it was an adjustment. That’s really all I can say. It’s just being engaged in my service to God, Allah, and then continuing with whatever I’m guided with.
The NBA star has come out and mentioned in the past that he even plays while fasting. Now, that may seem like an easy task. But performing on one of the biggest stages in the NBA without being able to drink or eat most of the day is no ordinary feat. It’s no secret that Kyrie is committed to everything he believes in, and his religious beliefs are no different.
