Richard receives service award

Lakeisha richard, Financial Aid Specialist at Sowela Technical Community College, received the Customer Service Star Award for the fall semester 2021 at the annual Christmas Employee Luncheon.

Sowela’s Customer Service Committee selects award recipients from nominations submitted by faculty and college staff.

Those nominating Richard said, “She’s great with the students and keeps an eye on her students behind the scenes. When young students without parental support contact the one-stop-shop for enrollment, she will often contact them repeatedly to check on their progress and progress. She is also wonderful in helping non-traditional students and incoming freshmen who are first generation students.

During his 15-year career at Sowela, Richard has helped thousands of students successfully navigate to pay for their college education.

Zone doctors receive the highest honor

Two Southwest Louisiana physicians from Christus Ochsner Health were recently honored for their outstanding leadership and service to the Lake Charles healthcare community.

Christus Ochsner St. Patrick’s Hospital named Erich Wolf II, MD, the recipient of the Dr John Greene Martin 2021 Compassionate Award. At the Christus Ochsner Lake District Hospital, Uzma Naeem, MD received the 2021 Benjamin W. Mount Compassionate Care Award.

The Dr John Greene Martin Award for Compassionate Care is awarded annually in honor of the founding physician of St. Patrick’s Hospital in 1908 with the Sisters of Charity. From his name to his mission, Dr. John Greene Martin was instrumental not only in opening St. Patrick’s Hospital, but also in transforming it into what it is today.

The Benjamin W. Mount Compassionate Care Award was named in honor of one of the founding members of Lake Area Hospital. It is awarded each year to a doctor who sets an example in his practice; exhibiting characteristics such as excellent care, patient-centered kindness, leadership, stewardship and service. Internal teams and other doctors vote on these winners by secret ballot.

Wolf is a board certified neurosurgeon specializing in minimally invasive spine surgery. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. His appointment included the many reasons his patients and peers respect him; his dedication, patience and compassion to patients and their families, as well as his innovative ideas and leadership skills used to develop the surgical program.

Naeem is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Forensic Pathologists. She is a member of the Louisiana State Medical Society, the American Medical Association, and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Her appointment underscored her compassion in caring for her patients and in her relationships with nurses and peers. His knowledge and advocacy for providing safe patient care was also noted; as well as the role of helping the Christus Ochsner Lake Area Hospital achieve the LAPQC BirthReady designation earlier this year.

Bunting joins the Broussard Group

The Broussard, Broussard & Compagnie, CPA Group is pleased to announce Haley bunting, CPA, to its team of financial accounting professionals within its group of companies. She will be a salaried accountant at the service of accountancy clients.

Bunting, of Vinton, passed all four parts of the CPA exam within one year of graduating with distinction magma cum laude from McNeese State University in May 2020. She earned two bachelor’s degrees, one in accounting and the other in finance.

During her time at McNeese, she received numerous scholarships and awards, including the C Marshall Abadie Fellowship, the Robert and Julie Gani Fellowship, and the National Engaged Leadership Award from the National Society of Leadership and Success. After graduating and pursuing her CPA license, she also received the Kit Smith Fellowship from the LCPA Society.

She has been working in public accounting since 2018 and continued her career within the Broussard Group and Brossard et Compagnie, CPA.

Psychiatrist Joins Memorial Group

Memorial Medical Group welcomes David murdock, MD, a certified and trained psychiatrist on a staff fellowship. He joined fellow psychiatrists Says Cantu, MD, Mario Valencia, MD, and Michael Wright, MD.

Murdock graduated in Biomedical Engineering from Mississippi State University. He received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson. His postgraduate training includes an internship at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, a residency in psychiatry and neurology also in Tulane, and a residency in geriatric psychiatry at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Orleans.

Murdock has practiced psychiatry for over 20 years. He has been a member of the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Neurology, the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, and the American Association of Emergency Psychiatry.

Murdock was on the medical schools at Tulane University School of Medicine and LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York, and Georgetown School of Medicine in Washington, DC.

He is accepting new patients at his office located at 2829 4th Ave.
