Police track down four people who allegedly made fun of people with disabilities

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are tracking down two women and two men suspected of being involved in two separate videos mocking the disabled (PWD), which have gone viral on social media since yesterday.
Sentul ACP District Police Chief Beh Eng Lai(Photo) said this was done following a police report filed by a woman regarding their actions in the video, which also allegedly abused facilities for people with disabilities.
He said the first video uploaded featured two men posing as disabled people and poking fun at the disabled parking lot at a shopping mall in the capital.
“They also pretended to be disabled after parking their vehicle in the parking lot.
“Another video shows two women abusing the toilets of people with disabilities at a gas station. They also acted as if they were physically disabled, ”he said in a statement yesterday.
Beh said the complainant who filed the police report felt that all people clearly insulted people with disabilities in the country and, without any guilt, used the target group as material to attract viewers to social media.
He said the case was closed under section 504 of the Penal Code and section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for intentional insult and misuse of social media.
Earlier today, OKU Sentral Chairman Senator Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi filed a police report against several people who abused disabled facilities.
She arrived at Brickfields District Police Headquarters here at around 1:20 p.m. and left after filing the report over an hour later.Bernama
